John Pettey

A graduate of Amherst College, John Pettey holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, along with Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Serving as an Executive Vice President of Dobbs Equity Partners, LLC in Memphis, Tennessee, he has been working in investment management industry for more than 19 years. During that time, John Pettey developed experience in private equity and wealth management. He also served at reputable financial institutions like Polygon Investments and The Blackstone Group.

Alongside his colleagues, he focuses on making and managing family office investments rather than raising capital from outside parties. He focuses on developing partnerships with successful businesses and promising startups. This attention to long-term investment opportunities reflects the firm’s personal stake in its investments and its commitment to helping its partners meet their financial goals. Meanwhile, the firm also supports its partners in areas of risk mitigation, financial planning and accounting.

In addition to his role at Dobbs Equity Partners, John Pettey serves as the President of the Ross M. Lynn Society at Memphis University School. The society was named for the school’s headmaster between 1955 and 1978, and consists of alumni, parents, and friends dedicated to maintaining the institution’s legacy of academic excellence and honor.
